Haas Team Principal Ayao Komatsu has put his foot down on the swirling rumors of a rift with driver Esteban Ocon. Following the Miami Grand Prix, whispers of a disagreement between the duo began to circulate, suggesting Ocon might even leave the team before the season's end. However, Komatsu has been quick to dismiss these claims, calling them "absolute nonsense." Ocon himself had already denied the reports during media day at the Canadian Grand Prix, stating, "The stories have been fabricated with no foundation," a sentiment echoed by his team boss. "I honestly don't know where the story came from," said Komatsu. "No foundation whatsoever, it's absolute rubbish. If someone wants to write that kind of nonsense, feel free, but is that journalism? I have no idea. It's terrible. What are they trying to achieve? It's crazy." When asked if he'd spoken to Ocon about the growing rumors, Komatsu replied, "I spoke to him this morning, but there's nothing to defend from our side whatsoever." Komatsu was baffled by the claims that he had an issue with Ocon in Miami, stating, "Where's that come from? I didn't even have a single argument with Esteban in Miami." The rumors have caused some concern within the team, with Komatsu noting, "Esteban gets worried, his manager gets worried." He added that both he and Ocon were bemused by the situation, discussing it with a mix of disbelief and humor. "We were just smiling and talking about what the fuss was about," he said. Komatsu intends to make it clear to everyone that the rumors are "utter nonsense." Shifting focus from the speculative to the practical, Komatsu confirmed that Haas would bring a "substantial" upgrade to the upcoming event in Montreal. "Whether it's going to translate into substantial performance or not, we have to see," Komatsu explained. "We didn't feel we had a good enough package to bring it to Miami, but that extra week gave us time to develop further. We'll see tomorrow."
