F1 Tyre Testing Returns to Nurburgring with Mercedes and McLaren

Mercedes and McLaren took to the Nurburgring for Pirelli's latest tyre test. Drivers George Russell and Oscar Piastri had their turn on a drying track, setting the stage for the next day's action.

Formula 1 made a brief return to the Nurburgring this week, but not for a race. Instead, Mercedes and McLaren were on hand to assist Pirelli with their latest tyre development test. On Tuesday, George Russell and Oscar Piastri got behind the wheel as the test kicked off. Despite starting on a wet track, the conditions improved, allowing the teams to test various construction versions of the C3 compound.

The Nurburgring, which last saw F1 action back in 2020, provided a fitting backdrop for this technical exercise. It followed last week's wet-tyre session at Fiorano with Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari. This time, the focus was on dry-weather performance.

Russell and Piastri managed to complete several runs, gathering valuable data for Pirelli. The baton was then passed to championship leader Kimi Antonelli and reigning champion Lando Norris on Wednesday, as they continued the testing program.

With the Nurburgring test wrapping up, attention now shifts to the upcoming race in Miami, set to resume the F1 season in two weeks. Meanwhile, fans can enjoy a gallery of images from the first day of testing, capturing the essence of the event and the iconic circuit.
