Esteban Ocon, despite a decade-long dance with destiny on the F1 grid, feels like he's still waiting for his career to hit the high notes. With only one grand prix victory in his pocket, Ocon's hunger for success is far from sated, and he's determined to change the tune at Haas.

Ah, Esteban Ocon: the man who beat Max Verstappen to the F3 European crown in 2014, only to watch the Dutch dynamo collect four World Championships like they were going out of style. Ocon, meanwhile, finds himself pondering his next move at Haas with just one grand prix win to his name. It's not exactly the fairy tale he'd scripted.
Ocon, armed with a decade of racing experience and a single win—2021 Hungary, if you’re keeping score—is a man on a mission, and frankly, a bit miffed. "I think it's fair to say that I'm happy with my podiums and wins," he mentioned in Australia, his voice tinged with that unmistakable French 'je ne sais quoi' of discontent. But let's be honest: one win out of 180 races is hardly cause to pop the champagne.
After switching allegiances from Alpine to Haas in 2025, a move many hoped would be the career boost he needed, Ocon has been left waiting in the wings. His debut season with Haas didn't exactly set the world on fire, and his rookie teammate Oliver Bearman outscored him. Ouch.
Team principal Ayao Komatsu noted that Ocon's first year at Haas was a bit of a letdown, but at least they shared some of the blame. It's a crumb of comfort for Ocon, whose tally of just one point in the first three races of 2026 isn't exactly a triumphant start. Bearman, on the other hand, seems to be collecting points like they're going out of fashion, already scoring 17.
But let's not write Ocon off just yet. He's vowed to change his fortunes with a work ethic that would make even Sisyphus nod in approval. "I've won in every category that I’ve driven," Ocon stated defiantly. "And yes, I’ve won one race in F1, but it’s not enough."
With the F1 circus ever-evolving, perhaps Ocon's journey isn’t about the destination but the ride. Whether he’ll ever don the World Champion crown remains to be seen, but one thing's for sure: Esteban Ocon isn't going gently into that good night. He's got more to prove and plenty of races left to do it.
So, will 2026 be the year of the Ocon? Only time—and a few dozen laps—will tell. But for now, the Frenchman remains resolute, a driver determined to flip the script and, finally, make his mark on F1 history.
