Ayao Komatsu Praises Ollie Bearman's Impact at Haas

Haas Team Principal Ayao Komatsu commends Ollie Bearman for his motivational influence and consistent performance. Bearman's ability to inspire the team is noted as a key factor in his success.

Ayao Komatsu, the Team Principal at Haas, has been singing the praises of Ollie Bearman, highlighting his knack for motivating those around him as an "important quality" he's brought to the team. The young Briton has been one of the breakout stars of the 2026 season, consistently finishing at the top of the midfield in Australia and China, and scoring in the Shanghai Sprint. Despite a setback in Japan, Bearman holds a respectable seventh in the standings with 17 points.

While Bearman's on-track prowess is undeniable, Komatsu is equally impressed with the progress he's made beyond the results. "He takes steps every single time," Komatsu remarked during a press conference in Suzuka. "His speed's never been in doubt, and the improvement in consistency towards the end of last year was remarkable."

Bearman's journey in Formula 1 began with a surprise debut at the 2024 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, stepping in for Carlos Sainz at Ferrari. Despite the short notice, he managed to secure a commendable seventh place. In 2025, Bearman joined Haas full-time and delivered the team's best result with a fourth-place finish in Mexico City.

Komatsu emphasized that Bearman's positive attitude is what sets him apart, saying, "His attitude is very, very positive, so he brings the best out of people around him, engineers, mechanics, everyone." Bearman's ability to remain upbeat even in less-than-ideal situations helps solve problems faster, making him an invaluable asset to the team.

The Haas team is thrilled with Bearman's contributions and Komatsu sees no limit to his potential, stating, "We already enjoy working with him and, at the moment, I can't see the ceiling, so that's the exciting part."
