Lance Stroll Follows Verstappen's Lead with GT3 Debut at Paul Ricard

Lance Stroll is trading his F1 cockpit for an Aston Martin GT3, joining the GT World Challenge Europe for some nighttime racing excitement at Paul Ricard. Following in the footsteps of Max Verstappen, Stroll's switch to GT3 promises intense racing action under the stars.

Lance Stroll is swapping his Formula 1 steering wheel for a GT3 adventure at Paul Ricard, marking his debut in the GT World Challenge Europe during the tantalizingly long F1 April break. The Canadian, usually seen wrestling an Aston Martin around F1 circuits, will now tackle the nighttime thrills of a six-hour endurance race alongside Roberto Merhi and the young Mari Boya. Together, they'll pilot one of seven Aston Martin Vantage GT3 beasts.

Lance Stroll: From F1 to GT3

While Formula 1 hits the pause button due to the cancellations of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian grands prix, Stroll is seizing the opportunity to join the GT3 ranks, hot on the heels of Max Verstappen's foray into the same field. Though Verstappen is not behind the wheel this time, his team will be present, adding an extra layer of rivalry as Stroll faces off against Verstappen Racing's Mercedes squad.

Stroll is clearly no stranger to endurance racing; his past adventures include two stints at the 24 Hours of Daytona. Though he's yet to claim the top spot, finishing fifth in 2016 shows he's got some serious endurance prowess.

As for the GT World Challenge Europe, it continues to beef up its reputation, with the Pro class boasting entries from Valentino Rossi, a motorcycling legend who’s enjoying a second act in his GT career, and Arthur Leclerc, younger sibling of F1's Charles Leclerc.

Aston Martin's Strong Line-Up

Aston Martin's endurance boss, Adam Carter, is practically beaming with pride over the Vantage's star-studded line-up. "It's fantastic to showcase Vantage's exceptional abilities on the international stage," Carter declares, convinced that this year's GT World Challenge Europe will be one for the history books.

The race at Paul Ricard is not your typical daytime affair; it’s a nocturnal escapade starting at 6 PM and concluding at midnight. Stroll and his teammates won't just be chasing victory; they'll be racing under a blanket of stars, making for a truly cinematic motorsport experience.

In true Paddock spirit, Stroll shared his excitement via Instagram, posting a story from the Nurburgring with GT3 cars whizzing by. Now, with his entry confirmed, he's ready to kick off what promises to be a thrilling chapter in his racing career.

Whether Stroll will outshine his Formula 1 endeavors remains to be seen, but one thing's for sure: the GT3 grid is about to get a major injection of F1 flair.
