Alex Albon Celebrates Williams Milestone with Mansell Tribute Helmet

Alex Albon will don a Nigel Mansell-inspired helmet as he surpasses the record for most race starts with Williams. Albon reflects on his journey with the team and the significance of this achievement.

Alex Albon is set to make a stylish statement at the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix, sporting a special helmet inspired by Nigel Mansell. This weekend, Albon will surpass Mansell's record for the most race starts for Williams, a remarkable milestone in his career.

Having joined Williams in 2022, Albon has been pivotal in shifting the team's fortunes, helping them climb from the depths of the grid to a competitive midfield contender. At 30, Albon matched Mansell's 95-race record in Monaco and will move past it with his 96th start in Spain.

The helmet is a nod to Mansell's iconic 1992 championship-winning design, a fitting tribute to a driver who served as an inspiration to Albon. "It's incredible to think I've raced more for this historic team than one of the sport's greats," Albon commented, acknowledging Mansell's influence and legacy at Williams. He expressed pride in joining the ranks of legendary drivers like Damon Hill and Ralf Schumacher.

Williams Team Principal James Vowles praised Albon's dedication: "Records like this are a testament to years of hard work and trust. Alex has earned his place in Williams history, and we're thrilled to celebrate this milestone together."

Mansell himself congratulated Albon, noting the driver's commitment to Williams over the past five seasons. He also expressed optimism about the team's direction, hinting at Albon's potential to add to his achievements with Williams.

Albon is on track to hit 100 Grands Prix starts for Williams by the Hungarian Grand Prix, a rare feat achieved by fewer than 30 drivers for a single team in F1 history. His journey with Williams continues to be one of growth and perseverance, reflecting the hard work of the entire team at Grove.
