Lewis Hamilton: No Plans to Leave F1 Anytime Soon

Lewis Hamilton has made it clear he's not considering retirement and plans to stay in F1 for the foreseeable future. Despite challenges, he's focused on improving with Ferrari.

Lewis Hamilton has put any retirement rumors to rest, stating he's staying in Formula 1 for the long haul. The seven-time world champion, who joined Ferrari in 2025 after a dominant period with Mercedes, is not ready to hang up his helmet just yet.

After years of title glory from 2014 to 2020, Hamilton's switch to Ferrari stirred excitement but didn't immediately yield the results some expected. His 2025 season saw him claim a Sprint victory in China but finish sixth overall, as Ferrari struggled to keep up with McLaren, Mercedes, and Red Bull.

Hamilton, however, isn't fazed. His recent podium finish at the 2026 Chinese Grand Prix shows promise under the new regulations, and he's committed to helping Ferrari close the gap with the frontrunners. "I’m still in contract, so everything is 100% clear to me," Hamilton said ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix. "I’m still focused, still motivated, and I love what I do. I plan to be here for some time, so get used to it."

At 41, Hamilton is already thinking ahead, planning for the next five years in the sport. His decision to skip simulator work for Canada, after tough races in Japan and Miami, highlights his willingness to adapt and find new ways to improve. Ferrari supports this approach as they aim to maximize their car's potential.

Discussing his time with Ferrari, Hamilton emphasized the importance of teamwork and his constant drive to be a better colleague and driver. "Teamwork really does make the dream work," he noted. "I’m in a good place with my team, and though there are always challenges, I’m happy."

While the exact terms of his contract remain private, Hamilton's determination is evident. He's still eager to explore different strategies with Ferrari, ensuring that his presence in F1 remains impactful.
