Hamilton Commends Ferrari's Efforts After Canadian GP Success

Lewis Hamilton has praised Ferrari for their efforts after securing second place at the Canadian Grand Prix. This marks a turning point for Hamilton, who is seeing improved performance in his second year with the team.

Lewis Hamilton's second-place finish at the Canadian Grand Prix represents his best result with Ferrari to date. It seems the Briton's tenure with the Italian team is finally gaining momentum after a challenging debut season. Hamilton joined Ferrari in 2025 and spent his first year acclimating to a new car and environment; he didn't manage a single podium finish across 24 races and ended up trailing teammate Charles Leclerc by 86 points in the Drivers' Championship.

However, 2026 is shaping up differently. After a winter spent familiarizing himself with Ferrari's Maranello base and adapting to the new F1 regulations, Hamilton has found solid ground. He secured his first Ferrari podium in China and followed it up with a strong performance in Canada, leading his team throughout the weekend and clinching second place.

Reflecting on the race, Hamilton expressed his enjoyment: "I had so much fun out there all weekend – every single lap. We started on the right foot, and the car felt great." He added that competing in Montreal, a track he adores, during its first Sprint weekend was a particular highlight.

Hamilton was quick to commend the effort behind the scenes: "I’ve had to dig deep and the team has moved mountains to enable this performance. I’m really grateful for their support." This gratitude extends to the team's preparation, which included a shift away from Ferrari's simulator work. Hamilton credits the collaboration with his new race engineer, Carlos Santi, and Team Principal Fred Vasseur for his improved results.

"I chose a different set-up this weekend," Hamilton explained. "My engineer is fantastic, and we’ve been able to pull more performance out of the car." He also praised the team for making necessary changes to enhance his comfort and performance.

Currently, Hamilton stands fourth in the Drivers' Championship, just three points shy of Leclerc. Meanwhile, Ferrari is holding second place in the Constructors' standings. It's clear that Ferrari's efforts are beginning to pay off, with Hamilton finding his stride in the new season.
