The Formula 1 Commission met in London to discuss future regulations, agreeing on several changes for 2027. Notable adjustments include tweaks to aerodynamic components and an extra day of pre-season testing.
In a recent gathering at the FIA's London offices, the Formula 1 Commission, led by F1 President Stefano Domenicali and FIA Single-Seater Director Nikolas Tombazis, deliberated over the sport's future. This meeting, the second of the year after February's discussions in Bahrain, focused on tweaking the 2027 Technical and Sporting Regulations.
Following the talks, a brief statement from the FIA outlined several provisional changes. Among these, minor adjustments to the aerodynamic and bodywork components were confirmed, following the debut of new cars for the 2026 season.
A significant update is the extension of pre-season testing in 2027, increasing from three to four days. Additionally, changes to the Testing of Previous Cars (TPC) rules were agreed upon, specifically regarding the venues for testing. These will now include restrictions on using circuits slated for the following year's championship races.
As with any regulatory shift in F1, these changes await formal approval from the FIA World Motor Sport Council. Once approved, they will shape the competitive landscape as teams and drivers prepare for the 2027 season.
