Leonardo Fornaroli to Test Haas F1 Car in Spain

Leonardo Fornaroli, who holds the position of reserve driver at McLaren and recently claimed the Formula 2 championship, is about to take a spin in Haas's 2025 Formula 1 car. This opportunity comes as part of Haas's Testing of Previous Cars (TPC) program, scheduled to take place at the Jerez Circuit in Spain on June 17th and 18th.

Fornaroli is not a stranger to F1 machinery, having already driven for McLaren during a practice session in Barcelona. In that outing, he managed an impressive fifth-fastest lap, just six-tenths behind Oscar Piastri, who was in the other McLaren car. Reflecting on that session, Fornaroli expressed his excitement and emotion, stating that sharing the track with the F1 elite was a surreal experience.

Joining Fornaroli at the Jerez test will be Ryo Hirakawa, Haas's reserve driver, who recently competed in the Le Mans 24 Hours, finishing in third place. The test is a chance for Haas to evaluate driver potential as part of their broader development program.

The Italian driver's recent accolades in F3 and F2 have certainly turned heads, leading to his current role with McLaren. His upcoming test with Haas is another step in his burgeoning career as he gains further experience in Formula 1 settings.
