Ferrari's Fred Vasseur to Miss Monaco Qualifying for Medical Reasons

Ferrari's Team Principal Fred Vasseur will not attend Monaco's Qualifying due to medical checks. The team wishes him a speedy recovery while maintaining focus on the race weekend.

Ferrari's Team Principal, Fred Vasseur, will be absent from the Monaco Grand Prix's qualifying session. This development comes after Vasseur was admitted to a local medical facility on Saturday for observation following routine health checks.

In a brief statement, Ferrari announced, "Fred Vasseur will not be present at the circuit today. Following some medical checks, Fred will remain under observation at a local medical facility. No further medical information will be provided. We wish Fred a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him back at the track soon."

Despite Vasseur's absence, Ferrari remains a strong contender this weekend. The team showed promising pace during the practice sessions, with Charles Leclerc initially leading the pack before being narrowly edged out by Lewis Hamilton. However, Vasseur, even from his hospital bed, would likely caution against early celebrations. As he noted on Friday evening, "It’s a very long way in Monaco from Friday, first to the Quali, then to the race."

The Ferrari boss highlighted the challenge of anticipating track and grip evolution, adding, "You have to be always one session ahead. This is a real challenge for the team and for the drivers. It means that it’s still a long way, and we’ll see tomorrow [Saturday] evening about the real pace."

While Vasseur focuses on his recovery, the team will need to adapt quickly at one of the most demanding circuits on the calendar. The absence of their principal is certainly not ideal, but in the high-stakes world of Formula 1, adaptability is often the name of the game.
