Jak Crawford to Join Aston Martin for FP1 in Belgium

Jak Crawford, Aston Martin's third driver, will take over Fernando Alonso's seat for the upcoming FP1 session at the Belgian Grand Prix. This marks Crawford's third practice session of the season, fulfilling Aston Martin's rookie driver requirements.

Jak Crawford, Aston Martin's third driver, is set to make another Free Practice 1 appearance at the Belgian Grand Prix. The young American will be stepping in for Fernando Alonso this time around, marking his third FP1 session of the 2026 season.

Crawford has already had a taste of driving in Japan and Austria, where he filled in for Alonso and Lance Stroll respectively. This upcoming session in Belgium will also tick off Aston Martin's third rookie practice run, a requirement each team must meet during the season.

Crawford's recent activities include a stint at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where he tackled the famous hillclimb in Aston Martin's 2025 car, the AMR25. He's also been busy with testing duties, most recently participating in a Pirelli tyre test in Barcelona last month.

Before joining Aston Martin as their third driver, Crawford wrapped up the 2025 Formula 2 season in style, finishing second overall. He managed to secure four wins and eight podiums while racing for DAMS Lucas Oil, a performance that undoubtedly caught the eye of his current F1 team.

As Crawford gears up for his next outing, fans will be watching to see how he leverages this opportunity to further his racing career.
