Perez and Bottas Gear Up for Cadillac’s First Home Race in Miami: A Crucial Test Awaits

Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas are set to tackle Cadillac's inaugural home race in Miami, viewing it as a pivotal moment in their season. Both drivers anticipate a challenging weekend as they aim to gauge their progress with significant updates.

Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas are eagerly anticipating Cadillac's first home race at the Miami Grand Prix, considering it a significant milestone for the team. Perez has dubbed it their 'biggest test' yet, as they bring a special livery and updates to their car.

Reflecting on the season so far, Perez noted the team's steady progress, with both cars finishing the last two races. "We’re moving in the right direction," said the Mexican driver. "We’re progressing every race weekend, and this will be our biggest test with a substantial package. If it all works, it’ll boost our confidence in our development tools."

When asked about what success would look like in Miami, Perez replied, "Making progress from Suzuka. If we can improve, especially with everyone bringing upgrades, it would mark a good weekend."

The Miami atmosphere brings an added layer of excitement for Perez, who feels the energy of racing on American soil. "Racing for an American team here is special, with all the Latin support. It’s one of the best races of the year," he remarked.

On the other side of the garage, Bottas is also looking forward to the team’s home debut. "It should be interesting," he commented. "After a few weeks off, we might see a different order among teams. We know what we’re bringing, but can’t predict others’ upgrades. It’s a Sprint weekend too, adding to the fun."

Bottas shared insights on the car’s updates: "Physically, it looks different, with a new livery pattern. We have aero updates and weight reduction, making us faster, but we don’t know how much others have improved."

For Bottas, progress is the ultimate goal. "It’s a project for us," he explained. "Seeing progress is the reward. If we can get closer to the midfield, that’s our trophy. But there’s still a long way to go."

As Cadillac gears up for this pivotal race, both drivers are keen to see how their efforts stack up against the competition. It promises to be an intriguing weekend on home turf.
