Williams Unveils Union Jack Livery for Silverstone Showdown
Williams is celebrating its British roots with a special livery for the Silverstone Grand Prix. The team will sport a design featuring the Union Jack on its cars and race gear.
In a nod to their British heritage, Williams is rolling out a Union Jack-inspired livery for the upcoming British Grand Prix at Silverstone. The design will feature prominently on the FW48's nose cone and chassis sides, incorporating the iconic red, white, and blue. Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz will also don race suits echoing this patriotic theme, while team members will wear matching gear to complete the ensemble.
Frank Williams established the team in 1977, and since then, Silverstone has been a venue of considerable success, with eight victories to their name. The team fondly remembers moments like Jacques Villeneuve's 100th win in 1997 and Nigel Mansell's trio of triumphs at the circuit.
Currently sitting with 11 points, Williams hopes to bolster their standings after a setback in Austria, where Sainz had to retire. Team Principal James Vowles expressed pride in representing the British GP, highlighting Silverstone's role in some of the team's most memorable achievements. He noted the unique atmosphere provided by the home crowd, whether they are cheering from the grandstands, the Fan Zone, or from the comfort of their homes.
Vowles emphasized the palpable energy the fans bring and how the team intends to harness it throughout the weekend. Williams aims to make the most of their home advantage and perhaps add another highlight to their illustrious Silverstone history.
