Lance Stroll on Aston Martin's Strategy for Canadian GP After Miami Gains

Lance Stroll is eager for his home race in Canada, buoyed by Aston Martin's recent improvements in Miami. Both he and Fernando Alonso are focused on refining the car's performance for Montreal.

Lance Stroll is gearing up for what he calls his "favourite race of the year," as the Formula 1 circus heads to Canada. Aston Martin aims to build on the progress shown in Miami, where both Stroll and his teammate, Fernando Alonso, managed to finish the race without any major hitches.

During the media day, Stroll expressed his excitement for the weekend, noting the exceptional atmosphere at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. "I look forward to this weekend all season," said the 27-year-old Canadian. "The fans, the energy, the whole city gets really into the race weekend. It's just electric."

Aston Martin's season hasn't been smooth sailing, but the team has made headway. The Miami Grand Prix saw improvements with the car's vibration issues, which had been a thorn in their side. "We fixed the vibrations in Miami," Stroll pointed out, emphasizing that both cars reached the chequered flag for the first time this season—a significant step forward.

However, the team knows there's more to achieve. "We just need to find a lot more downforce and power," Stroll noted. "When we do that, we'll be in better shape." He's aware these adjustments won't happen overnight, but upgrades are on the horizon—possibly around Spa or Zandvoort.

Alonso weighed in on the team's immediate focus for the Canadian GP, which will be on optimizing their current setup. "Every weekend has a different target," he said. "This weekend, unfortunately, we don't have any performance upgrades, so the focus is on driveability and improving how we feel the car."

The two-time World Champion stressed the importance of precise feedback from the drivers to the engineers. "We need to be united and feedback the best way we can," Alonso explained. With new engine and aerodynamic concepts in the pipeline, the team is working hard to enhance performance.

Aston Martin fans will be keenly watching to see how these efforts translate on Stroll's home turf, hoping for another step forward.
