Russell Triumphs in Canada Sprint After Tense Antonelli Encounter

George Russell emerged victorious in the Canada Sprint, securing his win despite a close on-track encounter with Mercedes teammate Kimi Antonelli. Lando Norris finished second, with Antonelli completing the podium.

George Russell's perseverance paid off as he clinched victory in the Canada Sprint, navigating through a challenging encounter with his Mercedes teammate Kimi Antonelli. Early in the race, both Mercedes drivers maintained their positions, but a tussle ensued when Russell and Antonelli clashed wheels, leading to the latter skidding onto the grass. Despite calls for Russell to receive a penalty, he kept his lead intact.

Lando Norris capitalized on the situation to finish second, pushing the young Antonelli to third. McLaren's Oscar Piastri enjoyed a solid performance, overtaking Lewis Hamilton late in the race to secure fourth place. Meanwhile, Charles Leclerc rounded off the top five by passing Hamilton, who ended up sixth.

Max Verstappen of Red Bull and Racing Bulls' Arvid Lindblad secured the final points in seventh and eighth, respectively, though neither could match the pace of the frontrunners.

The Sprint saw Franco Colapinto in ninth for Alpine, ahead of Williams' Carlos Sainz. Liam Lawson, driving for Racing Bulls, made an impressive recovery from 18th to finish 11th.

Audi's Gabriel Bortoleto and Nico Hulkenberg finished 12th and 15th, with Hulkenberg suffering a 10-second penalty. They were split by Haas' Esteban Ocon and Cadillac's Sergio Perez.

Aston Martin's Lance Stroll managed 16th after a last-minute start, crossing the line ahead of Valtteri Bottas, Ollie Bearman, Alex Albon, and Pierre Gasly, all of whom began from the pit lane.

Bringing up the rear were Isack Hadjar of Red Bull and Fernando Alonso for Aston Martin, both using the session to gather data after strategic pit stops.
