Red Bull is shaking up its technical leadership following the exit of several high-profile team members. Ben Waterhouse steps up, while Andrea Landi joins the fold to bolster the team’s engineering prowess.
Red Bull is navigating its way through a transitional phase, announcing a reshuffle within its technical leadership. This move comes on the heels of losing several pivotal figures, including Christian Horner, Helmut Marko, and others who have been instrumental in shaping the team’s success.
The latest departure is Max Verstappen’s race engineer, Gianpiero Lambiase, who is set to join McLaren in 2028. In response, Red Bull has elevated Ben Waterhouse to Chief Performance and Design Engineer, a role that now covers both Design and Vehicle Performance. He will report directly to Technical Director Pierre Wache.
Waterhouse, who has been with Red Bull since 2014 after a stint with BMW Sauber, seems well-suited to steer the ship through these changes. His leadership will be complemented by Andrea Landi, who joins as Head of Performance on July 1. Landi brings experience from Ferrari and Racing Bulls, where he held roles in vehicle performance and technical direction.
In a statement, Red Bull highlighted that these changes are aimed at "strengthening integration" within the team and accelerating the development of high-performance solutions. The strategy underscores a commitment to nurturing internal talent while also attracting top-tier expertise from around the Formula 1 world.
With these adjustments, Red Bull is clearly focusing on maintaining its competitive edge as it prepares to face new challenges and opportunities in the ever-evolving F1 landscape.
