Isack Hadjar's 'Idiot' Outburst: Red Bull Team Radio Drama Unfolds in Japan

Isack Hadjar's untelevised team radio spat revealed him calling fellow Red Bull driver Arvid Lindblad an 'idiot' in a gripping Japanese GP. It was a day marked by frustration for Red Bull, with Max Verstappen knocked out in Q2 and Hadjar finishing 12th.

In a plot twist more tantalizing than a Suzuka chicane, Red Bull's Isack Hadjar provided quite the soundtrack to an already dramatic Japanese Grand Prix. A piece of untelevised team radio unveiled Hadjar's not-so-subtle moniker for his teammate Arvid Lindblad, dubbing him an "idiot" after a nail-biting duel on the historic track.

Red Bull's weekend in Japan, notorious for its mix of thrills and spills, was more rain on their parade than champagne showers. Max Verstappen, the usual Suzuka sensation, found himself unceremoniously booted from Q2—a shocking turn of events for a man who'd made the circuit his second home since 2022.

Verstappen's race day was equally underwhelming, managing only an eighth-place finish, while Hadjar's struggles saw him end outside the points in 12th. His frustration was palpable as he got tangled in an on-track tango with rookie Arvid Lindblad, the sole new face on the grid this season.

The hidden gem of the weekend, Hadjar's radio rant, came after he finally overtook Lindblad during the pit stops, calling the young Racing Bulls driver an "idiot." Talk about leaving the gloves off!

Hadjar’s day started with early drama, finding himself in Verstappen's slipstream heading into the final chicane on Lap 2. With Verstappen channeling his inner roadblock, Hadjar was left vulnerable to a Haas attack from Esteban Ocon, who seized the opportunity to pass on the main straight. The radio crackled with Hadjar’s exasperated "Mate, come on!"

As the race unfolded, the comedy of errors continued. On Lap 5, Hadjar's engineer Richard Wood played the role of tech support, explaining why Hadjar's car was suddenly devoid of its precious SOC (state of charge). The back-and-forth resembled a sitcom dialogue:

**Wood:** "Isack, when using boost out of Turn 14, you can't lift after Turn 15 and go back full throttle. That’s what drained the SOC."

**Hadjar:** "What? Repeat!"

**Wood:** "You need to keep it flat, full throttle."

**Hadjar:** "Why are we figuring this out now?"

As if the universe wasn’t laughing enough, Hadjar soon found himself locked in a showdown with Lindblad. The rookie was slow into the Degner corners, his defensive maneuvers more coordinated than a synchronized swimming routine.

**Hadjar:** "Mate, what the f**k is he doing? Just moving like a…"

**Wood:** "Yeah, I saw an onboard."

Hadjar attempted a bold move at the chicane, only to be met with Lindblad’s crafty block.

**Hadjar:** "Ah, come on man. He can’t do that."

**Wood:** "Yeah, we’re reporting him. We’re reporting him."

The plot thickened when Lindblad left the door ajar at the hairpin. Hadjar made his move, but not before letting his radio know his true feelings: " moving around!"

As Lindblad’s car received a black-and-white flag, the pit-stop ballet offered Hadjar a chance to turn the tables. With Lindblad pitting on Lap 18, Hadjar followed suit a lap later.

**Wood:** "Box this lap, box this lap."

**Hadjar:** "Copy."

**Wood:** "Strat 12 in the pit lane."

The undercut threat from Ocon and Hadjar had Lindblad's engineer Pierre Hamelin sounding the alarm. Despite the warnings, Hadjar and Ocon emerged from the pits with a comfortable lead.

**Hadjar:** "What happened to that idiot? Ha!"

**Wood:** "Don’t worry about him, mate. Eyes forward. Ocon’s ahead, let’s get him."

After the race, Hadjar reflected on the lost time due to Lindblad’s enthusiastic defending, saying: "He let Max through and defends against me. It makes sense for him, but it was not very useful for both of us. But it’s OK. He’s young."

One can only hope the rookie learned a lesson or two underneath that racing helmet—or at least how not to end up as the punchline on team radio.
