Hadjar Reflects on 'Silly Mistake' in Miami Grand Prix Crash

Isack Hadjar's Miami Grand Prix ended abruptly on Lap 6 after a crash, leaving him frustrated. Despite initial progress from the pit lane, a kerb mishap dashed his hopes for points.

Isack Hadjar's Miami Grand Prix ambitions took a nosedive rather early on, as his Red Bull met the wall on Lap 6. The incident not only cut short his race but also triggered a Safety Car deployment. The 21-year-old Frenchman had hoped to convert his pit lane start into a points finish, but a brush with the kerb at Turn 13 ended those dreams prematurely.

Hadjar's weekend was already off to a rocky start. After a ho-hum Sprint that saw him cling onto P9 without scoring points, things went further south. He ended up disqualified from qualifying due to a technical infringement, forcing him to start the main event from the pits, while his teammate, Max Verstappen, managed a P5 finish.

Despite these setbacks, Hadjar was making headway through the field when disaster struck. "I had such good pace, and overtaking felt easy," he lamented post-race. "But it all happened so quickly; suddenly, I found myself in the wall. It's frustrating to lose points and damage the car over such a silly mistake."

His frustration was palpable, especially as other drivers, like Pierre Gasly and Liam Lawson, tangled further around the circuit, adding to the chaos and extending the Safety Car period.

Red Bull had introduced significant upgrades for Miami, which only made Hadjar’s crash more disheartening. The team showed potential gains with Verstappen's P5 finish, making Hadjar's incident a bitter pill to swallow.

Reflecting on the weekend, Hadjar admitted, "I was eager to show we’d made progress and deliver a strong finish from the pit lane. To throw it all away like that is incredibly frustrating."
