Charles Leclerc on Ferrari's Silverstone Struggles: 'Not Expecting Much'

After a challenging weekend in Austria, Charles Leclerc has set modest expectations for Ferrari at the upcoming British Grand Prix. Silverstone, with its abundance of straights, doesn't exactly play to Ferrari's strengths, according to Leclerc. "It's not a weekend where we expect to be particularly strong," he admitted, pointing out the similarities to Austria's layout.

Leclerc's recent form has been less than stellar, managing only four points in the last three races, highlighted by a disappointing eighth-place finish in Austria after starting from the front row. His outlook for Silverstone isn’t much brighter, especially considering teammate Lewis Hamilton's record success there. Leclerc has yet to win at Silverstone, and he doubts this weekend will change that. "There are a lot of straights and not many corners to recover energy," he explained, anticipating a challenging weekend.

The Monegasque driver has been working hard to improve, especially after a promising Saturday in Austria was followed by a less successful Sunday. "Saturday gave us hope, but on Sunday, straight-line speed was crucial, and we struggled," Leclerc said. Tyre management proved difficult, with Leclerc finishing significantly behind race winner George Russell at the Red Bull Ring.

While Ferrari did show better pace in Barcelona, where Hamilton secured victory, consistency remains elusive. Leclerc is candid about the team's struggles, noting, "Honestly, it’s in every single area." The power unit is a particular concern for this weekend, but Leclerc is determined to maximize what they have. With no immediate solution in sight, he remains focused on working through the team's issues.
