Lando Norris has expressed his intent to remain with McLaren indefinitely, though he admits there's one other team that might tempt him in the distant future. The 2025 World Champion emphasized his loyalty to McLaren, considering them akin to family.
Lando Norris recently shared his thoughts on staying with McLaren for the long haul during an episode of the _Beyond The Grid_ podcast. The 26-year-old British driver, who clinched his first World Championship in 2025 with McLaren, has been with the team since his rookie year in 2019. Reflecting on his journey, Norris has amassed 11 race wins, 16 poles, and 46 podiums, all while setting the record for the most Grand Prix starts for McLaren.
Despite these achievements, Norris revealed there's only one other team he might consider joining, but that possibility lies far in the future. "Very, very potentially," Norris mused about being a one-team driver. "I don't know how long I'll be in Formula 1... If there's any place I want to go, there's only one place I'd ever be interested in." However, he was quick to reaffirm his commitment to McLaren, describing them as his family and expressing a strong desire to stay. "For now, I'm heavily committed to McLaren being the only team I'll ever want to be with," he added. "I want to do as much as I can with McLaren for as long as possible."
Norris' relationship with McLaren stretches back to 2017 when he joined their Young Driver Programme. This long-standing partnership is one he values highly, even if success isn't always guaranteed. "Even sometimes if you're not winning, that doesn't mean I necessarily want to go to another team," Norris explained, emphasizing the importance of enjoying his time with McLaren over a relentless pursuit of wins elsewhere.
Following his 2025 title win, this season hasn't quite reached the same heights. Norris currently stands fifth in the 2026 championship, just behind teammate Oscar Piastri, while McLaren has faced some reliability issues. Yet, Norris remains as driven as ever. "The hunger is still there," he stated, likening the chase for success to an addictive drug. "Once you get that feeling of doing it once, you want more of it."
Norris noted that this drive is what keeps veterans like Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton in the sport. "That's why you still see Fernando here and Lewis here," he said. "They know what it feels like... and they still want more."
