Hamilton Thrilled with Canadian Sprint Qualifying Performance

Lewis Hamilton found joy in his performance during the Sprint Qualifying in Canada, securing a P5 finish. The Ferrari driver opted for data analysis over simulator work, which seemed to pay off.

Lewis Hamilton turned heads in Canada, finishing Sprint Qualifying on a high note despite being edged out by McLaren towards the end. The Ferrari driver, who decided to skip the simulator in favor of sifting through race data, found himself in P5 on the grid, marking his best session of the season. "It's probably the best Qualifying session we've had for some time," Hamilton remarked, praising the setup changes that left him feeling more in tune with the car.

Hamilton's decision to forego the simulator and focus on data analysis seemed to pay off, as he consistently delivered quick laps throughout the session. "I was having so much fun out there," he said, adding that this approach made him feel the best he has all year. This marks the first time he has outqualified his teammate Charles Leclerc since the Chinese Grand Prix, a weekend Hamilton previously highlighted as a high point.

While Hamilton enjoyed a boost, Leclerc faced his own set of challenges. Despite Ferrari opting to refine their Miami upgrades rather than introduce new ones in Canada, Leclerc struggled with brake confidence. "I'm really struggling with the brakes on my side of the garage," Leclerc admitted, hopeful for a solution before the race. Despite these issues, Leclerc will start the Sprint in P6, just behind Hamilton.

Meanwhile, McLaren's Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri secured the second row, leaving Ferrari's drivers to contend with P5 and P6. Leclerc, while acknowledging Hamilton's speed, remains focused on overcoming his braking woes. "We have quite a good idea of what's going on. Whether we have a fix for tomorrow is another story," he said, determined to improve.

Hamilton's newfound approach and satisfaction with the car setup offer a promising outlook for the rest of the weekend, hinting that the veteran driver's strategic shift could be a game-changer for the remainder of the season.
