Bearman Eyes Ferrari Future but Won't Wait Indefinitely

Ollie Bearman has made it clear that Ferrari remains his ultimate destination, but he's also realistic about the waiting game. Currently honing his skills with Haas, the British driver reflects on his future and the balance between patience and seizing the moment.

Bearman's second year in Formula 1 has had its share of challenges and highlights. After a promising P5 finish in China, both he and his Haas teammate have struggled to maintain consistency. Despite these hurdles, Bearman still leads teammate Esteban Ocon in the Drivers' Championship.

His journey with Ferrari began in 2022 when he joined their Driver Academy. Bearman made a memorable F1 debut with Ferrari in 2024, stepping in for an ill Carlos Sainz and securing a P7 finish. However, with Charles Leclerc and a rejuvenated Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari, Bearman acknowledges that a seat at the Scuderia might not open up soon.

Reflecting on his current situation, Bearman said on the _Beyond the Grid_ podcast, "Things have changed a lot recently. As an F1 fan and a Lewis fan, seeing him perform so well for Ferrari is special, but it also means I might need to be patient."

Bearman isn't rushing. At 21, he sees value in staying with Haas for now, citing the team's potential and his own room for growth. "I'm happy at Haas, and there's still a lot to achieve here," he noted. "I want to return to the highs we reached in Mexico and beyond."

When questioned about his ties to Ferrari, Bearman expressed gratitude for their support since his F3 days, calling Ferrari his dream team. Yet he’s pragmatic, saying, "I don’t want to waste my best years waiting. If Ferrari can't offer me a competitive seat, I’ll have to look elsewhere to fight for championships."

Bearman's ambition is to contest for wins and titles, and he’s ready to pursue those goals wherever the opportunity arises. Whether that’s at Ferrari or another team, he remains focused on his ultimate goal of competing at the top of the sport.
