Brundle Highlights Dilemma Facing Racing Bulls Over Lawson's Future

Martin Brundle warns Racing Bulls faces a tough choice in deciding its 2027 driver lineup. Liam Lawson's strong performances make the decision to potentially replace him with Nikola Tsolov complex.

Racing Bulls is in a bit of a quandary when it comes to its driver lineup for the 2027 season. Martin Brundle, the seasoned Sky F1 pundit, has pointed out that the team might face a "major problem" if they consider replacing either Liam Lawson or his rookie teammate Arvid Lindblad with Nikola Tsolov. Lawson, in particular, has been making quite a case for himself by leading the midfield pack with 75 points in the current season.

Lindblad isn't doing too shabby either, contributing 38 points in a promising rookie season. Together, they've propelled Racing Bulls to fifth in the Constructors' standings. However, with Red Bull junior Nikola Tsolov vying for the Formula 2 title, the team has a decision to make: stick with the current duo or make room for fresh talent.

Lawson's recent performances have been impressive, notably his P5 finish in the Singapore Sprint and seventh in the Grand Prix. Sky F1 lead commentator David Croft praised Lawson for his consistency, noting Racing Bulls' strong history at the Singapore Grand Prix.

Alan Permane, the team principal, has stated that a decision will be made "in the coming weeks". Racing Bulls finds itself in a "slightly unique situation," given its role as Red Bull's junior F1 team, balancing current performance with the development of future stars.

Brundle warns that introducing a new driver could be tricky. "Lawson's driving so beautifully," Brundle noted, adding that Lindblad's performance is also commendable. In his post-Singapore GP column, Brundle further highlighted Lawson's achievements, noting his excellent run in challenging races.

As the season moves forward, the next triple-header starts with the United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of The Americas, where Lawson will have another chance to showcase his skills.
