Oscar Piastri and Arvid Lindblad face an FIA investigation following their collision at the Mexican Grand Prix. The incident knocked Lindblad out of the race and prompted a detailed review by the stewards.
Oscar Piastri and Arvid Lindblad have been called to the FIA stewards after a collision during the Mexican Grand Prix. The incident, which occurred as they fought for seventh place, resulted in Lindblad's Racing Bulls car being eliminated from the race at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.
The clash between Piastri's McLaren and Lindblad's Racing Bulls machine happened on Lap 59, rounding Turn 1. Piastri's car, positioned on the outside, clipped Lindblad's, causing the latter's car to lift momentarily before hitting the Turn 2 barriers. Fortunately, Lindblad emerged unscathed.
Piastri continued to finish the race in seventh position. The collision caught the attention of the FIA stewards, leading to a post-race investigation that required both drivers to participate.
Piastri suggested he was left with no options on track, while Lindblad, reflecting on the race, said, "Not much to say. I haven’t seen him naturally yet, so I can’t comment. But in the end, we were fast. I was in a genuine race with him. He was stuck behind me for over 10 laps, so I was committed to racing for the position."
Despite the day's challenges, Lindblad remained optimistic. While Racing Bulls lost ground to Alpine in the Constructors’ Championship, he focused on his personal progress. "For me, I’m trying to look much more at the bigger picture than just what a piece of paper says," Lindblad remarked. "I felt much more like myself in the car this weekend. I’m happy with the race. I was quick; it’s one of the first races in a while that I’ve been fast."
Looking ahead to Brazil, Lindblad noted, "It was a pretty long race. I was in a good rhythm, and then the red flag came out. Honestly, I don’t think it was a bad thing for us. The restart was exciting, and I enjoyed the second half of the race a lot."
