Freddie Slater to Make F1 Weekend Debut with Audi in Mexico and Brazil

Freddie Slater is set to participate in his first F1 race weekends, driving for Audi in FP1 sessions in Mexico City and Sao Paulo. The young British driver sees this as a significant step in his racing career.

Freddie Slater is gearing up for an exciting milestone in his racing career as he prepares to drive in Formula 1's FP1 sessions for Audi at the Mexico City and Sao Paulo Grand Prix weekends. The 18-year-old Brit, who joined Audi's development program earlier this year, has already made a name for himself in F3, finishing the season as runner-up with Trident Motorsport. Next year, Slater will advance to F2 with Invicta Racing, but first, he will gain invaluable experience behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car.

Reflecting on the upcoming opportunity, Slater shared, "Getting behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car at a Grand Prix weekend is a big moment for me and something I’ve been dreaming of since I was a kid." He added that his focus during these practice sessions will be to do his best for the Audi team and absorb as much knowledge as possible. Slater expressed gratitude for Audi's support, noting that the development program has already opened up incredible opportunities for him.

Allan McNish, Audi Racing Director, emphasized Slater's progress, stating, "We have seen Freddie making great progress throughout recent years, both on and off the track; it is the right time for Freddie to step up." McNish believes these FP1 outings will provide Slater with essential experience as he prepares for his F2 debut next season. The Audi team is eager to see Slater in the R26 and is committed to supporting him through these significant sessions.

For Slater, these appearances represent more than just a chance to drive an F1 car; they mark a critical step in his development as a driver. The experience gained in Mexico and Brazil will undoubtedly be a cornerstone in his journey towards a full-time Formula 1 seat.
