Gasly's Monza Pole Sparks Renewed Confidence at Alpine

Pierre Gasly and the Alpine team have arrived in Madrid with a newfound spring in their step, thanks to Gasly's stunning pole position at Monza. It was a moment that turned heads in the paddock, as the team that spent much of 2025 languishing at the back suddenly found themselves at the sharp end of the grid.

"It meant a lot to all the team," Gasly remarked on media day at the Madring, the new Spanish Grand Prix venue. "After the tough weekends we've had, especially coming from last year, this result was a real boost. We've put so much effort into this year's car, and seeing it pay off was incredible."

The Monza pole has lifted spirits across the Enstone-based team. "The smiles in the garage and at the factory were priceless. Everyone was buzzing," Gasly said, clearly pleased. "It brings a new level of confidence and motivation, showing that when we get everything right, results like these are possible. I joked with the team that we shouldn't wait another 17 years for the next one!"

The challenge now shifts to the Madring, a brand new circuit featuring high-speed, banked corners that promise to test the drivers in different ways. Gasly is optimistic about the track, saying, "It’s going to be a proper racing track. Driving it in the simulator was incredible, and I'm excited to experience it in real life."

Aside from the racing, Gasly also had a brush with football royalty, spending time with Zinedine Zidane. The two filmed a project together, and Gasly took the opportunity to glean some wisdom from the legendary footballer. "I’m a big fan of Zizou," Gasly said. "He’s a great guy and now the coach of our national team. I was eager to get his insights, especially after our Monza success."

With the Spanish Grand Prix on the horizon, Alpine hopes to capitalize on their recent success and keep the momentum rolling. Gasly’s Monza pole has certainly injected a dose of belief into the team, and they’re eager to see where that belief can take them next.
