Haas is eager to keep Ollie Bearman on board for another season, though his contract isn't finalized yet. Team boss Ayao Komatsu praised Bearman's growth and potential leadership capabilities.
Ollie Bearman, currently driving for Haas, hasn't yet inked a new deal for next season, but team principal Ayao Komatsu is keen to keep him in the lineup. Despite not having a confirmed contract, Bearman appears to be in a strong position, especially after a standout performance in Singapore.
Komatsu, addressing the media, revealed his desire to continue with Bearman, emphasizing the young driver's talent and growth. "He’s an incredible talent," Komatsu noted, highlighting Bearman's readiness to take on a leadership role within the team. While specifics of the contract remain under wraps, Komatsu assured that a formal announcement is on the horizon.
Bearman, a Ferrari junior, has been with Haas for two seasons. His performance has been impressive, especially when compared to teammate Esteban Ocon, with Bearman securing 23 points to Ocon's seven so far this season.
The Haas lineup is set to get even more interesting with the addition of Rafael Camara, another Ferrari junior, next season. Komatsu acknowledged the talent of both drivers, pointing out Camara's impressive performance during a test in Portugal. "In terms of potential, we see both drivers as equally exciting," Komatsu remarked.
The team principal praised Bearman's understanding of his role and ability to manage race conditions, something that stood out during his first FP1 session in Mexico. Similarly, Camara was lauded for his adaptability during a challenging shootout in Portimao.
Komatsu is optimistic about nurturing the potential of both Ferrari juniors at Haas, seeing their development as an exciting journey. "The common exciting factor," he said, "is the potential of how we can grow together and flourish."
