Hamilton Cleared of Yellow Flag Violation in Singapore GP Sprint

Lewis Hamilton will not face penalties after being cleared of a yellow flag infringement during the Singapore GP sprint race. The Ferrari driver finished second behind Max Verstappen in a rain-affected race.

Lewis Hamilton's weekend in Singapore ended without further scrutiny from the FIA, as the governing body decided against penalizing the Ferrari driver for a potential yellow flag infringement during the sprint race. Hamilton secured second place, trailing Max Verstappen, who clinched the win for Red Bull.

The sprint race, held at the Marina Bay street circuit, was marked by early drama, including a crash that took Mercedes' George Russell out of contention on the first lap. Meanwhile, McLaren's Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri tangled towards the end of the event. Amidst this, Hamilton was investigated for a yellow flag incident but was ultimately cleared by the stewards.

This decision followed a similar call earlier in the weekend when Verstappen was not penalized for overtaking under yellow flags during sprint qualifying. Hamilton's result in Singapore comes hot on the heels of his podium finish in Bahrain, where he overcame a strategy blunder to finish third, marking a return to form after his last podium at Silverstone.

In his post-race comments, Hamilton congratulated Verstappen and reflected on his performance, noting a strong start and good pace throughout the sprint. "I had a really good start," Hamilton said, describing how he adjusted his approach based on the grip he felt. "There's basically one line here, and so overtaking is very, very difficult," he added, acknowledging the challenge of competing against the powerful Red Bull engine.

Looking ahead to the rest of the weekend, Hamilton was optimistic about Ferrari's potential. He believed they could challenge Red Bull, at least for a front-row position. "Whether or not we can actually be ahead of them, we shall see, but I think the car is good here," he remarked. However, he also noted the importance of perfecting the setup after some initial struggles in practice.

"Normally, when we start practice, we usually have a car in a good place, but it wasn’t," Hamilton said, explaining the adjustments Ferrari had to make. Despite being overbalanced in qualifying, he was hopeful that the team had learned enough to improve their setup for the next session.
