Hulkenberg Finally Scores Points for Audi at Hungarian GP

Nico Hulkenberg's wait for points this season ended at the Hungarian Grand Prix, where he secured a ninth-place finish for Audi. It was a weekend where things finally clicked for the German driver, who admitted, "It's been a long time coming." Starting tenth on the grid, Hulkenberg executed a two-stop strategy effectively, overtaking his teammate Gabriel Bortoleto and Racing Bull's Arvid Lindblad in the latter stages, thanks to a switch to soft tyres. This effort earned him two valuable points.

Reflecting on his race, Hulkenberg remarked, "Better to have points than not. There were many times this year when it should've happened but didn't for various reasons." He finished just behind Liam Lawson's Racing Bull, narrowly missing out on a higher position. "I and the team knew it was there; it was just about putting it all together," he added.

This result propelled Audi ahead of Williams in the Constructors' Championship, placing them in eighth as they head into the summer break. The Hungarian GP marked the third consecutive race where Audi scored points, with Bortoleto finishing eighth in both Britain and Belgium. Bortoleto expressed optimism about the team's trajectory, noting their positive momentum this season.

Bortoleto's own race in Hungary saw him finish just outside the points in eleventh. "I gave it all," he said, having attempted a challenging one-stop strategy. Starting on soft tyres, he had to stretch his stint considerably before switching to hards. "It was tough to make it work," he admitted, highlighting the difficulties of managing tyre degradation over a long stint.

The Audi team has reasons to be hopeful, having shown competitive pace and consistent point-scoring ability in recent races. As the season progresses, they will be looking to build on this foundation and climb further up the standings.
