Isack Hadjar Returns to Red Bull Line-Up for Azerbaijan GP
Isack Hadjar is set to rejoin Red Bull at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix after recovering from a wrist injury. His return sees Liam Lawson head back to Racing Bulls, with Yuki Tsunoda resuming reserve duties.
Red Bull has confirmed that their 2026 driver pairing of Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar will be reunited at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Hadjar returns after a wrist injury sustained during summer training sidelined him from the races at Zandvoort, Monza, and the new Madring circuit.
Following a successful rehabilitation, Hadjar is fit to compete alongside Verstappen starting from the Baku weekend. His comeback means Liam Lawson, who admirably filled in during Hadjar's absence, will return to Racing Bulls, while Yuki Tsunoda resumes his role as a reserve driver.
"Oracle Red Bull Racing is delighted to welcome Isack back this weekend," Red Bull stated on Tuesday. "Having made a successful recovery from his wrist injury, Isack will return to action at the Baku City Circuit on Thursday."
The team also extended their gratitude to Lawson for his professionalism and impressive performances over the past three races, wishing him well as he returns to Visa Cash App Racing Bulls.
The Azerbaijan Grand Prix weekend will start earlier than usual to avoid clashing with the country's Remembrance Day on September 27. Free Practice will now take place on Thursday, followed by Qualifying on Friday and the Grand Prix on Saturday.
Hadjar's last race was the Hungarian Grand Prix in July, making his return to the cockpit all the more anticipated by fans and team members alike. With the Baku circuit known for its challenging layout, Hadjar's comeback is sure to be closely watched.
