Ollie Bearman expresses his desire to remain with Haas for 2027 amid ongoing contract talks. Meanwhile, Esteban Ocon explores options after losing his seat to Rafael Camara.
Ollie Bearman has made it clear that he intends to continue racing with Haas in 2027, although a formal agreement hasn't been announced yet. Speaking ahead of the Mexico City Grand Prix, Bearman stated, "It's very clear I want to continue with Haas and that's definitely my goal." Despite his enthusiasm, Bearman's future remains undecided as he completes his second season with the team.
Earlier in the month, Haas confirmed a change in their lineup, with Esteban Ocon making way for Rafael Camara, a promising talent from Ferrari’s junior ranks currently leading the Formula 2 points table. This leaves Bearman waiting in the wings, with negotiations ongoing. "There's a few things in the background that we're working on," Bearman mentioned, indicating that discussions are still in motion.
When pressed about when a decision might be announced, Bearman admitted, "I don't know to be honest. It's not really in my hands. If it was up to me, it would already have been announced a long time ago." Bearman is currently 13th in the drivers' standings, notably ahead of Ocon by 16 points, and arrives in Mexico with fond memories, having achieved his best F1 result at this track with a fourth-place finish.
As for Ocon, who is now without a seat for 2027, he is reportedly in talks with other teams, including Cadillac, which has a vacancy alongside Sergio Perez. Ocon remains optimistic about his future in F1, stating, "I feel like I have unfinished business in F1. I'm still very young, I still have a lot of things to achieve and that's where I want to be in the future." While he refrained from commenting on specific discussions, Ocon's determination to stay in the sport is evident.
For Bearman, the next few weeks will be crucial in determining whether he remains with Haas or seeks opportunities elsewhere, while Ocon navigates the uncertain waters of the F1 driver market.
