Max Verstappen finally clinched his first Singapore Grand Prix victory, making it his 10th attempt at the challenging Marina Bay Street Circuit. The win marks a significant milestone in his career and adds to Red Bull's recent resurgence.
Max Verstappen, driving for Red Bull, finally conquered the streets of Singapore, securing his first victory at the Marina Bay Street Circuit after ten attempts. The Dutch driver expressed immense satisfaction with this long-awaited win, having previously achieved four podium finishes here, with two second-place results in 2024 and 2025.
This victory was not just a personal triumph but also a testament to Red Bull's strong form this weekend, as Verstappen dominated both the Sprint and the main Grand Prix. With this win, the only track left unconquered on the current F1 calendar for Verstappen is the new Madring circuit introduced in 2026.
Reflecting on his performance, Verstappen noted the importance of strategic tire management. "We had pace when we needed to have it on the soft tyre and on the medium, even though I think the medium tyre for everyone was a bit more of a struggle," he remarked with a smile.
The race itself saw Verstappen fend off an aggressive challenge from Ferrari's Charles Leclerc right from the start. He admitted that his start was "just good enough" to keep Leclerc at bay, allowing him to build and maintain a commanding lead.
This victory follows Red Bull's first win of the 2026 season at the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia. Verstappen attributed their recent success to significant updates introduced in Azerbaijan, noting a positive trend in their performances. "I think the last few races have been really positive for us, and it’s just great to see," he commented, highlighting the team's renewed motivation.
As Verstappen marks his 250th Grand Prix start with this victory, he also emphasized the camaraderie within the team. "It’s a really good group of people. I really enjoy working with them, and hopefully we can have a bit more fun until the end of the year," he added.
Overall, this win in Singapore represents more than just a personal milestone for Verstappen; it's a signal of Red Bull's continued resilience and ambition as they aim for further success in the remaining races of the season.
