Williams Extends Alex Albon's Contract Through 2027

Williams has announced that Alex Albon will remain with the team for the 2027 season. This extension solidifies Albon's role as a key figure in the team's ongoing development efforts.

Williams has confirmed that Alex Albon will continue racing for them into 2027, marking a significant extension of his tenure with the team. Albon first joined Williams in 2022 after a year as a reserve driver for Red Bull. Since then, he has played a pivotal role in the team's gradual resurgence, including a climb to fifth in the Teams' Championship last year.

This season hasn't been as smooth for Williams, but Albon remains committed to the cause. "Since joining Atlassian Williams F1 Team in 2022, the transformation this team has made is difficult to put into words," Albon remarked. "One tough year doesn’t tell the full picture, and it only gives me more motivation to keep building and pushing together with the factory and our fans to achieve great things. Our story is not over yet, so my full focus now is on doing whatever it takes to get us back up the grid."

Team Principal James Vowles echoed Albon's sentiments, highlighting the importance of Albon's leadership in Williams' ongoing development. "Alex has been a leader of this transformation project since day one and we have plenty of unfinished business that we are determined to achieve," Vowles stated. "Alex is one of the best drivers on the grid and knows better than anyone the enormous improvements we have made in recent years – re-signing him shows the belief we both have in the direction we are heading."

Albon recently became the driver with the most starts for Williams, surpassing Nigel Mansell's record during the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix with his 96th race for the team. He also reached his 100th Grand Prix with Williams at the Hungarian race.

Currently, Albon is 16th in the drivers’ standings with five points, while Williams finds themselves ninth in the Teams’ Championship. However, with an upgrade package in the works for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, the team is optimistic about improving their performance in the latter half of the season.
