Williams Teams Up with Marvel for Doctor Doom Livery and Comic Con Showstopper

Williams F1 has joined forces with Marvel to create a Doctor Doom-themed livery, making its debut at New York Comic Con. The collaboration also features a special comic book starring the Williams team alongside Marvel superheroes.

Williams has taken a creative leap into the Marvel Universe, unveiling a Doctor Doom-inspired livery at New York Comic Con as part of their collaboration with the comic book giant. The usual blue of the Williams car was traded for the villain’s signature black and green, showcased on a specially designed FW48 show car.

The car was part of an immersive exhibit celebrating the upcoming film, _Avengers: Doomsday_, at Comic Con. While this striking design won't hit the track, fans can admire it up close at the Williams Fan Zone during the United States Grand Prix in Austin.

This collaboration started back in April, when Williams announced that drivers Alex Albon, Carlos Sainz, and Team Principal James Vowles would appear in a Marvel comic titled _Iron Man: Racing Towards Doom_. In the comic, the Williams trio faces the nefarious Doctor Doom with a little help from Marvel heroes like Iron Man, Black Widow, and Captain America. Written by Ethan Sacks and illustrated by Greg Land, the comic weaves F1 excitement with superhero action.

According to Dr. Miriam Kent, a Lecturer in Film and Media, sports and superheroes have mingled in comics since the mid-20th century, making this crossover less surprising than it might seem. The comic is set for broader release just before the Austin Grand Prix, giving fans another reason to celebrate.

Williams' partnership with Marvel extends beyond the comic book. Throughout the 2026 season, the team released special-edition covers at various Grands Prix, including Monaco and Singapore. Fans have been collecting these unique covers, with the latest editions debuting in the United States and Las Vegas.

Dr. Kent observes a natural synergy between F1's technological edge and the superhero genre’s fascination with advanced machinery. Marvel's history of car partnerships, like Tony Stark's Audi R8 in _Iron Man_, reflects this connection between cutting-edge tech and fantasy.

At the New York Comic Con, the Williams showcase featured more than just the car. Fans explored Marvel artwork, superhero-inspired race suits, and interactive displays. Exclusive comics and race-worn gear from Albon and Sainz were available, and a competition offered fans a chance to win a Marvel-themed race suit.

For those who missed the Comic Con spectacle, the Williams Fan Zone in Austin will host the show car and offer a special Austin edition of the comic. Appearances by Albon, Vowles, reserve driver Luke Browning, and 1996 World Champion Damon Hill will spice up the Fan Zone, alongside interactive racing activities.

This creative collaboration between Williams and Marvel brings a new dimension to the paddock, blending the high-speed world of F1 with the imaginative universe of superheroes.
