Cadillac Addresses Suspension Failure After Bottas' High-Speed Crash

Cadillac has taken steps to rectify the suspension issue that caused Valtteri Bottas' crash during the Mexico City Grand Prix. The team aims to prevent a recurrence as they prepare for the next race in Brazil.

Cadillac's team boss, Marcin Budkowski, announced that the team has resolved the suspension problem that led to Valtteri Bottas' dramatic accident at the Mexico City Grand Prix. Bottas' car experienced a front-left suspension failure while braking from over 200 mph, resulting in a crash that visibly shook the Finnish driver.

Suspension failures are a rarity in modern Formula 1, yet this marks Cadillac's second occurrence in its debut season. The first incident involved Sergio Perez's car at the Canadian Grand Prix, albeit under much less severe circumstances. Budkowski highlighted that despite the setback, the team's performance in Mexico was their most competitive yet, showing significant progress against their rivals.

"Following our post-race investigations, we've addressed the issue," Budkowski stated, emphasizing the team's commitment to ensuring such failures do not recur.

In the aftermath, Perez managed to finish the race without incident in the sister car, even after a red flag halt. Looking ahead, Bottas is eager to return to the cockpit at Interlagos, a circuit known for its complex mix of elevation changes and corners. He noted the potential for unpredictable weather, which could add an extra layer of challenge. As the team wraps up a demanding sequence of races, Bottas is keen on a strong, trouble-free performance in Brazil.
