FIA Investigates Singapore Sprint Collision Between Stroll and Perez

Lance Stroll and Sergio Perez tangled on the first lap of the Singapore Grand Prix sprint race, prompting an FIA investigation. Both drivers retired after the crash, with team representatives summoned to discuss the incident.

The FIA has initiated an investigation following a collision between Aston Martin's Lance Stroll and Cadillac's Sergio Perez during the Singapore Grand Prix sprint race. The incident at Turn 16 led to both drivers retiring early from the race, which was marked by difficult weather conditions and saw a total of nine retirements, including notable exits from Mercedes' George Russell and McLaren's Oscar Piastri.

Perez and Stroll were battling for position when they made contact at the 90-degree right-hander. Stroll spun into the crash barrier, while Perez managed to limp back to the pits before also retiring. In the aftermath, both drivers, along with their team representatives, were summoned to meet the stewards at 1900 local time in Singapore.

Before heading to the stewards, Stroll remarked, "There was an incident with Perez. I haven’t seen it yet, I don’t know exactly what happened. I got hit." Perez offered his perspective, stating, "I was on the inside into Turn 16 with Lance and I wasn’t expecting him to shut the door there. When he closed the door I tried to brake, but it was just too late. There was nothing I could have done."
