The FIA has reprimanded Lance Stroll for not adhering to pre-race procedures in Singapore. Meanwhile, Max Verstappen continues to dominate with another victory at Marina Bay.
The FIA has released a statement addressing a 'human error' that affected Sprint Qualifying, and it seems Lance Stroll found himself in the regulatory spotlight. The Aston Martin driver received a warning from the FIA stewards for failing to comply with the race director’s notes during pre-race reconnaissance laps at the Singapore Grand Prix. Although Stroll retired after 35 laps, the warning serves as a formal reminder to adhere to procedural protocols.
In the main event, Red Bull's Max Verstappen clinched his second consecutive victory at Marina Bay, showcasing Red Bull’s renewed vigor. PlanetF1.com’s driver ratings awarded Verstappen a flawless 10/10 for his performance, while Lewis Hamilton's strategic blunder saw him rated a mere 5/10 after losing three positions from his starting grid.
The post-race analysis also highlighted a potential communication mishap involving Ferrari, which might have contributed to Hamilton's strategy error. The seven-time world champion was seeking lap time data for drivers on soft tyres, but Ferrari’s response was less than illuminating, potentially leading to his subsequent misjudgment.
Aston Martin had a particularly challenging weekend despite the circuit's apparent compatibility with their car. Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll struggled in qualifying, securing only 17th and 19th spots. Data analysis suggests their car's lack of straight-line speed and inefficient energy recovery under braking contributed to their poor performance.
While Lance Stroll's breach might have been a minor hiccup in the grand scheme of things, it serves as a reminder of the importance of following race protocols. All eyes will be on how Aston Martin and its drivers respond in the upcoming races.
