Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri's last-lap collision in Singapore has prompted an FIA investigation. The incident cost McLaren a potential points haul and left the team facing scrutiny from the stewards.
McLaren found themselves under the FIA's microscope in Singapore after teammates Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri collided during the final lap of the sprint race. The incident occurred as Norris attempted an ambitious overtake on Piastri at Turn 5. Unfortunately, Norris' front axle wasn't aligned with Piastri's at the corner's apex, a critical detail noted by the stewards.
Throughout the 20-lap sprint, Norris had been trailing Piastri, who was running in fourth, with Norris in fifth. As Norris made his move, Piastri attempted to leave space, but the last-second maneuver wasn't enough to avoid contact. The clash not only disrupted McLaren's race strategy but also slashed their potential points from nine to just one, as Norris finished eighth and Piastri was forced to retire. Both drivers are now summoned to face the stewards to explain the unfortunate incident.
