Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto are gearing up for a critical race weekend in Mexico, aiming to close the gap to Haas in the Constructors' standings. With the midfield competition proving fierce, both Audi drivers emphasize the need for flawless execution.
Audi's dynamic duo, Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto, are setting their sights on a productive weekend in Mexico, eager to score points and reel in Haas in the Constructors’ Championship. Currently sitting eighth, Audi is just seven points adrift of Haas, and the team is keen to capitalize on any opportunity to advance up the standings.
Hulkenberg is acutely aware of the razor-thin margins in the midfield battle. Reflecting on his recent performances, where he has finished just outside the points in three of the last four races, the German driver stressed the importance of precision. "We’re within striking distance, but we need to be flawless," Hulkenberg remarked. He stressed the importance of both drivers and the team operating seamlessly to achieve the desired results. "Otherwise, we’ll just be missing out. It’s really on a knife’s edge, usually with the Racing Bulls and the Alpines," he added, highlighting the intense competition.
Bortoleto, who put in a strong showing in Austin despite starting from the back due to a grid penalty, shares Hulkenberg's optimism. The Brazilian was buoyed by Audi's competitive pace at the Circuit of The Americas, where he consistently found himself in the top 10 during practice sessions. "Austin was very positive. Since FP1, I felt amazing with the car," Bortoleto recounted. While a penalty thwarted his chances of scoring points, he's hopeful that a penalty-free race in Mexico will allow him to deliver a strong result.
Looking ahead, Bortoleto is optimistic about the remaining five races. "Last year, [Mexico] gave me one point, so it’s a good track," he noted, acknowledging the challenges posed by the long straights but remaining confident in Audi's capabilities. "We have good pace in most of these races," he stated, convinced that Audi can continue to challenge Haas and potentially surpass them in the standings.
As the Mexican Grand Prix approaches, Audi's focus is clear: execute flawlessly, capitalize on every opportunity, and make the most of their competitive package. Both drivers are prepared to push to the limit, knowing that every point could be pivotal in their quest to climb the Constructors' ladder.
