Liam Lawson Highlights Distinct Differences Between Red Bull and Racing Bulls Cars

Liam Lawson has experienced the unique challenge of driving for both Red Bull and Racing Bulls this season. He notes that despite shared ownership, the two cars differ significantly in design and handling.

Liam Lawson, having driven for both Red Bull and Racing Bulls this season, offers a unique perspective on the differences between the two cars. Despite the two teams sharing ownership, Lawson remarked that 'pretty much everything' is different about the cars. Lawson, who filled in for the injured Isack Hadjar for three races, managed to score points alongside Max Verstappen during his stint with Red Bull, before Hadjar's return in Azerbaijan.

While Racing Bulls is often seen as Red Bull's sister team, the two have operated independently since the rebranding from Toro Rosso in 2006. Lawson, currently ninth in the Drivers' standings, shared his insights, suggesting a combination of the two cars' strengths could create a top-tier vehicle. 'Other than the power unit, pretty much everything is different,' Lawson explained, highlighting the adjustments needed when switching back to Red Bull. He noted that the steering, for example, is more personalized to his Racing Bulls car.

Lawson finds it intriguing to experience both, acknowledging the strengths and weaknesses inherent in each. He mused that combining elements from both cars could result in a remarkably fast race car. As for his future, Lawson is still awaiting confirmation on his place in Formula 1 for 2027, with no decisions yet announced by either Racing Bulls or Red Bull.
