Max Verstappen Cautious About Singapore GP Despite Recent Win

Max Verstappen eyes his first victory at the Singapore Grand Prix with cautious optimism. Despite a recent win in Malaysia, he acknowledges the challenge posed by the street circuit's unique demands.

Max Verstappen is approaching the Singapore Grand Prix with a blend of hope and realism. Fresh off a victory at the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia, the Red Bull driver is keen to maintain momentum but remains aware of the formidable challenge the Marina Bay Street Circuit presents.

Verstappen's recent win marked a significant moment, breaking a frustrating spell since his last triumph in Abu Dhabi in 2025. He managed to outpace Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli and Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton, suggesting that Red Bull might be back in the mix for regular victories. However, Verstappen is not counting on an easy ride in Singapore.

"We're going to try, that's for sure," Verstappen commented. "It's always complicated on a street circuit; a lot of things have to come together." He acknowledged that even during Red Bull's more dominant seasons, success in Singapore has eluded them. His best results at the track have been a series of second-place finishes spread across 2018, 2024, and 2025.

The Dutchman noted that while improvements are always possible, there are no certainties. "Some just happen a bit sooner than others," he said, referring to the numerous variables that can affect performance on street circuits, each unique in their challenges. "I hope it's going to be a little bit better this year, but there are no guarantees."

With seven races left in the season, Verstappen is setting his sights on another win before the team shifts its focus to the 2027 season. "I just want to try and see if we can carry this momentum," he said. "Step by step, we try to be better, and next year is a completely different story."

Verstappen's teammate, Isack Hadjar, also reflected on their recent performance. Despite a promising start in Malaysia, a battery issue cost Hadjar a podium finish, dropping him to fifth. Nevertheless, he remains optimistic about the upcoming race in Singapore, emphasizing the importance of understanding the technical issues from Malaysia.

Hadjar, returning from injury, celebrated a significant achievement by securing a historic first win for Red Bull Ford Powertrains in just his second race back. He acknowledged the progress made since the start of the season, highlighting the impact of recent upgrades and Verstappen's prowess behind the wheel.

As the Singapore Grand Prix approaches, Red Bull is aware of the competition's strength on street circuits. But with Verstappen at the helm, they are cautiously optimistic about their chances of finally claiming victory at this challenging venue.
