McLaren Issues Stern Order to Norris and Piastri After Singapore Incident

McLaren's Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri were firmly reminded to avoid a repeat of their Singapore Sprint clash. Team CEO Zak Brown emphasized the importance of team unity as they chase Ferrari and fend off Red Bull in the Constructors' Championship.

McLaren's Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri were given a no-nonsense directive following their collision during the Singapore Grand Prix Sprint. McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown deemed the incident 'unnecessary' as the team battles for position in the 2026 Constructors' Championship against Ferrari and Red Bull.

The clash, which occurred during the final lap while the duo contended for P6, resulted in both cars spinning. Norris managed to recover and finished P8, but not without some initial defiance over his right to attempt the move. Eventually, he acknowledged fault and apologized to the team.

On race day, Sky F1's Martin Brundle caught up with Brown, who confirmed that stern words had indeed been exchanged. "That was a 'don't do that again.' And we didn't say please. That's an order," Brown remarked, highlighting the team's need to avoid such 'unnecessary' incidents under pressure.

Piastri, too, recognized the situation as avoidable, noting the impact on points and resources. However, he praised their ability to quickly put the incident behind them as a strength for McLaren. "Lando apologized and we moved on," he said, underscoring their teamwork despite past hiccups.

The Grand Prix itself saw Norris finish fourth and Piastri fifth, demonstrating their resilience. As McLaren heads to Austin, they sit 105 points behind second-place Ferrari and hold a slim seven-point lead over Red Bull in the standings.
