Racing Bulls to Finalize 2027 Driver Line-Up 'Soon', Says Alan Permane

Racing Bulls Team Principal Alan Permane plans to announce the team's 2027 drivers in the coming weeks. The decision is complicated by strong performances from current drivers and promising junior talent.

Racing Bulls Team Principal Alan Permane has revealed that the team will decide on their 2027 driver line-up "in the coming weeks". As the only team besides Haas yet to confirm their drivers for next season, all eyes are on whether Racing Bulls will retain Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad.

Both Lawson and Lindblad have consistently scored points, helping Racing Bulls secure fifth in the constructors' standings. Lawson has amassed 69 points, 14 of which he earned while substituting for Isack Hadjar at Red Bull, while Lindblad, a rookie, has collected 38 points.

However, Red Bull junior Nikola Tsolov is making a strong case for himself in Formula 2, where he is contending for the title in his debut season. Tsolov's potential adds a layer of complexity to the team's decision-making process.

Permane, speaking ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix, emphasized that there is no rush to make a decision. "We have two fantastic drivers and an equally promising talent in F2," he said. "Three doesn't fit into two, though, so we need a bit more time to decide on the right pairing."

Historically, Racing Bulls has been a stepping stone for future Red Bull drivers, making the choice even more significant as the team aims to nurture young talent. "Speed and pace are top criteria," Permane explained, "but we also have to consider potential for future development. It's not just about immediate performance."

Permane's comments reflect the balancing act facing Racing Bulls. While Lawson and Lindblad are on track to deliver the team's best-ever result in the Teams’ Championship, the allure of exciting new talent like Tsolov cannot be ignored. The decision will likely shape the team's trajectory for years to come.
