Sky F1's Ted Kravitz Dismisses Rumors of Lawson's Departure from Racing Bulls

Sky F1's Ted Kravitz calls the idea of Racing Bulls dropping Liam Lawson 'bonkers' after his strong Singapore performance. Lawson's future with the team remains undecided as Racing Bulls weighs its driver lineup for 2027.

Liam Lawson's future with Racing Bulls might be uncertain, but if you ask Sky F1's Ted Kravitz, the idea of the team dropping him is nothing short of 'bonkers.' Kravitz, known for his candid insights, strongly believes that Lawson's impressive showing at the Singapore Grand Prix solidifies his place in the team. Despite Lawson and his teammate Arvid Lindblad pushing Racing Bulls to fifth in the Constructors' standings, neither has a confirmed seat for the 2027 season.

Team principal Alan Permane has indicated that a decision will be made soon regarding whether Lawson, Lindblad, or Formula 2 hopeful Nikola Tsolov will secure the coveted seats. Permane acknowledged the team's role in nurturing talent for Red Bull, saying, "We've got two fantastic drivers and a fantastic driver in F2, but three doesn't fit into two, of course."

Kravitz, however, is adamant about Lawson's value. During his 'Ted's Notebook' segment, he praised Lawson, stating, "Whoever thought that he's going to lose his place to Nikola Tsolov must be bonkers... there's no way they're going to get rid of Liam Lawson when he’s delivering results like this." Lawson finished fifth in the Singapore Sprint and seventh in the Grand Prix, performances that Kravitz believes may have secured his position for 2027 and possibly beyond.

Currently, Lawson is ninth in the Drivers' Championship with 75 points, well ahead of Lindblad's 38. While the final decision is pending, Kravitz's confidence in Lawson is clear, suggesting that Racing Bulls would be wise to keep the New Zealander in their lineup.
