Verstappen, who joined Red Bull in 2016 after a mid-season switch from Toro Rosso, has enjoyed a remarkable tenure, boasting 71 wins and four Drivers’ Championships.
The timing of this announcement, just as the spotlight turns to his home Grand Prix in the Netherlands, seems fitting. It also quells recent speculation that the 28-year-old was considering other teams, especially since his previous contract was set to expire in 2028. Verstappen's recent performance saw him narrowly miss a fifth title in 2025, edged out by McLaren's Lando Norris by a mere two points. However, Verstappen’s faith in Red Bull, now under the stewardship of Team Principal Laurent Mekies, appears unshaken. "I am really pleased with the contract extension," Verstappen stated. "We have the best people, and I’m excited to keep working together to get back to the top again."
