Williams Unveils 50th Anniversary Celebrations with Exciting Events

Williams Racing is set to commemorate its 50th year in Formula 1 with a series of special events, including an immersive London experience and a fan-chosen Silverstone livery. Celebrations will highlight the team's storied history and achievements.

In 2027, Williams Racing will join the exclusive club of F1 teams celebrating half a century in the sport, following in the tire tracks of Ferrari and McLaren. To mark this milestone, Williams has announced a series of events that will showcase its illustrious history.

The centerpiece of these celebrations will be the 'W50 Live' experience, scheduled to launch in Waterloo, London. This immersive event promises a sensory journey through the team's history, featuring championship-winning cars and other iconic memorabilia. It's a nod to the humble beginnings when Frank Williams and co-founder Patrick Head started their venture from a modest garage in London.

Among the historic cars on display will be the FW06, Williams' first chassis, the dominant FW14B from 1992 that carried Nigel Mansell to glory, and the FW38, which still holds the record for the fastest speed in an F1 car, achieved by Valtteri Bottas in Mexico 2016.

The event will also introduce the FW50, the 2027 challenger, continuing Williams' tradition of skipping numeric designations at significant anniversaries, just as they did with the FW40. Fans will also have a say in history by voting on the livery for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, a track rich with Williams’ past triumphs.

In addition to the London spectacle, Williams plans to release a series of limited-edition merchandise featuring a special W50 logo. More celebratory moments are in the pipeline, set to be unveiled over the coming months.

Reflecting on the team’s journey, Team Principal James Vowles remarked on the impressive legacy that Frank Williams built from scratch, emphasizing the enduring spirit that drives the team forward. F1 President Stefano Domenicali also lauded Williams' contribution to the sport, highlighting its foundational values of determination and success.

As Williams looks to the future, these anniversary celebrations not only honor the past but also aim to inspire a new generation of fans, keeping the spirit of innovation and victory alive.
