Alpine Secures Franco Colapinto for 2027, Maintains Current Driver Duo

Alpine has opted for stability by retaining Franco Colapinto and Pierre Gasly as their driver lineup for the 2027 Formula 1 season. The Argentine driver, who stepped into the spotlight as a mid-season replacement for Jack Doohan in 2025, has shown his mettle by scoring 19 points across six races this year. His efforts, alongside Gasly’s, have helped Alpine secure sixth place in the Constructors' Championship.

Colapinto's journey with Alpine began as a reserve driver before he took over the race seat at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix. His partnership with Frenchman Gasly has developed both on and off the track, underscoring the team's decision to maintain this duo. Gasly, who reaffirmed his commitment to Alpine with a contract extension last year, is set to stay with the team until at least the end of 2028.

Alpine’s Executive Advisor, Flavio Briatore, expressed confidence in the duo, emphasizing the importance of consistency in achieving the team's goals. "We are very happy to confirm our driver line-up for 2027 with Franco staying as a race driver alongside Pierre," Briatore noted. He acknowledged Colapinto's growth, particularly highlighting his performances in Miami and Montreal as evidence of his capabilities.

Colapinto, reflecting on his contract extension, expressed satisfaction with the team’s progress and his role in it. "I am very pleased to remain with this team in 2027. We've made significant progress this year compared to last," he commented, crediting the team's hard work in improving car performance.

Looking ahead, the Argentine driver is optimistic about achieving Alpine's long-term ambitions of competing at the front. "Our long-term goals are obvious – to compete and win," he said, thanking the team for their trust and support.

As Alpine gears up for the upcoming Italian Grand Prix, Colapinto will benefit from the upgraded package first introduced in Zandvoort, potentially boosting his performance further. With a stable driver lineup and strategic focus, Alpine aims to keep pushing forward, eyeing a stronger position in the F1 hierarchy.
