Christian Horner Reflects on Possibility of Returning to Red Bull After 2025 Exit

After his departure from Red Bull in 2025, Christian Horner has been exploring options for a return to Formula 1. Despite speculation, he remains uninterested in a Red Bull comeback, citing a completed chapter in his career.

Christian Horner has been navigating the F1 landscape ever since his departure from Red Bull in 2025, but he seems to have ruled out a comeback to his old stomping grounds. The former team principal has been linked with almost every team on the grid during his 15-month absence, yet a return to Milton Keynes appears unlikely. "That’s a chapter that I’m tremendously grateful for," Horner remarked during a chat on Jodie Kidd’s YouTube channel. "I had a great run while I was there. In the end, the last couple of years weren’t much fun, but we did some amazing things, and I’m always looking forward."

Horner's final years at Red Bull were marked by a friction-filled relationship with Helmut Marko, culminating in Horner's exit while Marko held his position until the end of the 2025 season. The end of their partnership left Horner seeking new opportunities, though none have yet come to fruition.

Despite Marko's departure from Red Bull last year, Horner doesn’t see himself returning. "I still have a good relationship with the shareholders, which is important to me, but yeah, it’s done," he stated. This sentiment was underscored by a gesture of gratitude from Red Bull shareholders after Max Verstappen's victory at the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia, which marked a milestone for the team in their solo engine development.

Rumors have floated about Horner potentially acquiring Racing Bulls, but Red Bull's management seems uninterested in letting go of their 'sister team,' having previously rejected a £1.7 billion offer. As for Horner, the search for a new role in F1 continues, though he’s essentially ruled out the possibility of joining Ferrari, citing his desire for a shareholding in any future endeavor.

In the meantime, Horner remains a figure of interest in F1 circles, his potential moves closely watched by fans and teams alike. His contributions to Red Bull's legacy are undeniable, but as he himself acknowledges, his time there is indeed a closed chapter.
