Liam Lawson Faces Back-of-the-Grid Start at Monza After Engine Changes

Liam Lawson will line up at the very back of the grid for the Italian Grand Prix, thanks to a series of engine component changes on his Red Bull. The FIA has confirmed that Lawson's RB22 has been fitted with a slew of new parts, including a sixth internal combustion engine, turbocharger, and exhaust system. Additionally, the car now features its fourth MGU-K and a seventh PU-ANC, all of which have surpassed the allocated limits for the season.

These updates mean Lawson will join Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli and Williams' Alex Albon at the back of the starting order. The changes apply to the car usually piloted by Isack Hadjar, who is currently sidelined with a wrist injury, leaving Lawson to continue his substitute duties.

This weekend marks Lawson's second consecutive outing in the RB22, following a commendable P7 finish at Zandvoort. Meanwhile, Yuki Tsunoda is stepping in for Lawson at Racing Bulls, making this a weekend of musical chairs for drivers.
